This trail was the medieval route linking two major historic centers in Italy, Assisi (view a video of Assisi; “Things to see in Assisi”) and Gubbio (view video of Gubbio Ceri Festival), located in Umbria.
The trail, named after Saint Francis, who used to walk this route in the 13th century, offers hikers the possibility to visit castles, churches, and medieval settlements, located in the gorgeous countryside of Umbria.

The Corsa dei Ceri (Ceri race) taking place on May 15, during the “Ceri” historic festival, in the medieval city of Gubbio, Umbria.

Ostia Antica (Ancient Ostia) is an archaeological site located around 40 km from the city center of Rome and about three km away from the beach of Ostia. It is an idea for a short day trip from Rome.

Founded in the 7th century BC, Ostia was the harbor of Ancient Rome.

Monte Argentario (known simply as Argentario) is a peninsula in the Southern Tuscany. It is linked to the mainland by three dams which form two lagoons, the Laguna di Ponente on the west side and the Laguna di Levante on the east side.
Major centers of Argentario are Porto Santo Stefano, Porto Ercole, and Orbetello.
